🌱 Next Gen Super Soils: TerraSoil’s New Organic Formula is Coming

At TerraSoil, we're always digging deeper, literally and figuratively, especially to improve the quality and impact of our living soils. We're excited to share that we’re currently working on the next batch of our signature Super Soil, and this time, we’re going further than ever before.

Thanks to months of research and collaboration with our local and international suppliers, we’ve secured a new range of organic ingredients to enhance soil health, boost biodiversity, and improve plant performance. Among the standout additions is a powerful biodynamic input you might not have heard of yet, but it’s been transforming natural farming methods for generations: Horn Meal.

Why We Never Stop Improving our Super Soils

Our Super Soil mixes have helped growers across Malta and beyond nurture stronger plants with fewer inputs, but we believe there's always room to grow. Every batch is an opportunity to improve. In particular based on our personal field trials, customer feedback, and the evolving science of soil health.

By refining our ingredients and layering techniques, we aim to build soils that are more alive, more resilient, and more productive, naturally. The upcoming formula is the result of months of testing and planning, and we can’t wait to share the results.

What’s New in This Batch?

This next generation of TerraSoil Super Soil will feature an upgraded nutrient profile and even more diversity in microbial inoculants and mineral inputs. We've sourced certified organic amendments including:

  • New types of composted plant matter

  • Fermented manures for better microbe activity

  • Natural fungal inoculants and trace mineral boosters

  • And for the first time ever in Malta, Horn Meal.

Horn meal is an organic nitrogen-rich fertilizer made by grinding down animal horns, typically from cattle. It’s a slow-release amendment commonly used in organic gardening and farming to promote strong vegetative growth.

🔍 What Is Horn Meal?

TerraSoil Super Soil - What is Horn Meal - Made in Malta
What is Horn Meal?

  • Source: Dried and finely ground cattle horns

  • Nutrient content: High in nitrogen (usually around 12-14% N), with minimal phosphorus and potassium

  • Release rate: Very slow — it can take months to fully break down in the soil, making it ideal for long-term nitrogen support

  • Function: Encourages leafy growth, boosts soil microbial activity, and contributes to humus formation over time

🌱 How Is Horn Meal Used?

Horn meal is commonly used in:

  • Vegetable gardens

  • Perennial beds

  • Tree and shrub plantings

  • Compost piles (as a nitrogen activator)

It’s often mixed into the soil before planting or blended into organic fertilizer mixes. Because it releases nitrogen slowly, it’s less likely to cause nutrient burn compared to fast-release synthetic fertilizers.

What Can You Expect?

With this new formula, TerraSoil Super Soil is expected to deliver:

✅ Faster plant establishment✅ Increased microbial diversity✅ Stronger flowering and fruiting phases✅ Long-lasting nutrient release✅ Greater overall resilience to stress and pests

Whether you're growing vegetables, herbs, ornamentals, or medicinal plants, this mix is designed to support vitality from seed to harvest, with minimal external inputs.

Behind the Scenes at TerraSoil

This isn't just a new recipe, it’s a step forward in regenerative soil building. Our team is hand-mixing small batches to test ratios, monitor microbe activity, and refine moisture and texture profiles. Each ingredient is selected for its role in the living ecosystem of the soil, not just its NPK value.

We’re also working closely with local growers and community partners to gather real-world data and feedback before the official launch. This collaborative, transparent approach is what sets TerraSoil apart and keeps us grounded.

When Will It Be Available?

Our next-gen Super Soil mix is scheduled for release later this summer, just in time for late-season transplanting and prepping autumn gardens. Pre-orders will open soon on TerraSoil.eu, and we’ll be sharing updates on social media as production ramps up.
