In Garden Beds (In-Ground):

Mix 5–10% biochar by volume into the top 15–25 cm (6–10 in) of soil.

For best results, blend with compost or organic fertiliser.
In Containers & Pots:

Add approximately 1–3 tbsp per litre of potting soil before planting.

Mix thoroughly with base soil or living soil mix.
With Compost & Amendments:

Pre-charge biochar by mixing with compost or worm castings for a few weeks before use, this “charges” the biochar with nutrients and microbes, accelerating its effect.
